May 27th is World Otter Day

North Line products are named to promote awareness of Canadian Species at Risk. We are proud to manufacture the Otter778, a video solution to differentiate between multiple objects on roads and pathways and provide you with counts for your Vision Zero and active transportation studies. It offers the discrete detection of pedestrians, cyclists, multiple vehicle types, and even horses. Today, we hope it encourages you to learn more about the Sea Otter, a species of Special Concern in Canada. Find out more by clicking the links below.

Black CAT Radar on Duty

The Black CAT radar allows the Coquitlam RCMP traffic section to “make well-informed decisions about where our enforcement teams can be most effective,” says Staff Sergeant Mark McCutcheon, Traffic Services Commander.

The discreet, non-intrusive Black CAT radar and its unique speed enforcement evaluator are “so effective” for the Coquitlam RCMP traffic section, they’re giving it a special assignment.

The Black CAT radar will be part of a first-of-its-kind project, as it teams up with officers and Constable Scarecrow, a life-sized cut-out that depicts a real-life officer with a laser speed-reader.

“While we have seen cut-outs used before, they’ve never been monitored like this to see what their effect is on traffic,” Corporal Michael McLaughlin told media. The Black CAT radar will detect vehicle speed before and after Constable Scarecrow, “scientifically monitoring” the effect the cut-out has on drivers 24/7.

“It’s a low-cost, good-humoured way to improve our presence and perhaps make people think twice about speeding,” says Sergeant Quentin Frewing.

Are you trying to reduce speeding on your roads?
